Privacy notice

How Selling Sidekick Limited, operating the Solar Sidekick service, handles your personal information.

Who we are

Solar Sidekick is a service operated by Selling Sidekick Limited, which is the data controller for information you submit through solarsidekick.lovable.app. You can contact us at ceri@sellingsidekick.com.

What we collect

  • Answers you give in the suitability check: house number, postcode, property type, whether you are the homeowner, approximate monthly electricity spend and your preferred part of the day for a callback.
  • Contact details: full name, telephone number and, if you choose to provide it, your email address.
  • Your consent record: the exact consent wording, its version and the time you gave it.
  • Campaign attribution: UTM parameters, any Meta or Google click identifier, the landing page and the referring page.
  • Anonymous eligibility analytics: if the check indicates the service isn't suitable, we record only the non-personal reason category and campaign attribution. The personal information entered in the form is not submitted to our enquiry database.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

  • To call you about your enquiry and confirm suitability - consent, which you give with this wording: "I would like Selling Sidekick Limited, operating the Solar Sidekick service, to call me about this enquiry. I understand that my information will not be passed to an installation partner unless the partner is identified to me and I agree to the introduction."
  • To arrange a consultation with a selected installation partner - consent, given separately once we identify that partner to you.
  • To keep records of enquiries, consent and complaints, and to prevent abuse of the form - our legitimate interests in running and protecting the service.
  • To understand campaign performance and to measure adverts - your consent, given through the cookie banner.

Who we share it with

Your information is not passed to an installation partner unless the partner is identified to you and you agree to the introduction. Once introduced, that partner is a separate controller for the information it holds and handles it under its own privacy notice.

We also use service providers who process data on our behalf, including our hosting and database provider, our customer relationship management system and our email delivery provider. They act on our instructions.

How long we keep it

We keep an enquiry record while we handle it and for up to 12 months afterwards so we can identify duplicate enquiries, manage follow-up and resolve questions about the service. We may keep consent and complaint records for longer where reasonably needed to meet a legal obligation or establish, exercise or defend a legal claim. We review retained records and delete or anonymise them when they are no longer needed. Anonymous eligibility analytics contain no contact details and may be kept for reporting.

Automated suitability checks

The online check automatically compares your answers with the current service criteria. If you are not the homeowner or the postcode is outside mainland England and Wales, the form will not submit an enquiry. You can contact us if you believe the result is incorrect or would like a person to review it.

Your rights

You have the right to access your information, to have inaccurate information corrected, to have information erased, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing carried out before you withdrew it.

To exercise any of these rights, email ceri@sellingsidekick.com.

Your right to object

You can object at any time to our use of your information for direct marketing. You can also object where we rely on legitimate interests, although in that case we may continue if we have compelling legitimate grounds or need the information for legal claims. Email ceri@sellingsidekick.com to object or ask us to stop calling.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first using our complaints procedure. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK supervisory authority for data protection.
